Dear Friends,
Mimi Fariña founded Bread & Roses in 1974. She and I shared a belief in the power of music. It can change lives and combat hopelessness. It can lift hearts.
My commitment to this extraordinary organization is renewed now. Over the past three decades, Bread & Roses has touched the lives of 320,000 children, teens, adults and elders living in institutions such as hospitals, homeless shelters and youth detention facilities. It has produced more than 10,000 free performances – 530 shows last year alone.
The genius of Mimi's legacy is that Bread & Roses has survived her passing. We who supported Mimi in her early years are joined today by additional generations of individuals who believe in the Bread & Roses mission and are contributing time, talent and treasure to the optimistic pursuit of uplifting the human spirit.
I became a Bread & Roses volunteer performer and donor long ago. I am still supporting Bread & Roses because it meets a basic human need for hope in hard times.
I am counting on you to give generously to Bread & Roses.
With your help we can make sure that every day of the year someone special will be touched by your generosity. Every one of us can do something.
Keep on,
 Pete Seeger
