Board Changes
Francisco Castillo has stepped down from the Board of Directors
and we thank him for his year of service. He has been appointed Deputy Press
Secretary & Liaison to Latino Media in the Office of Governor Arnold
Schwarzenegger in Sacramento.
Awards
Bread & Roses received a Compassionate Caring Award from
The Institute for Health & Healing at California
Pacific Medical Center on February 8, 2007, at the Four
Seasons Hotel in San Francisco. The award was accepted by Board
Co-Chairs Sudha Pennathur and Susan Gilardi,
and vocalist Clairdee gave a performance on behalf of Bread
& Roses.
Sudha Sale
Our third Sudha Sale was a big success this year thanks to the hard work
and stylish merchandise donated by Board Co-Chair Sudha Pennathur.
This annual event was held Nov. 18 and 19, 2006, in Larkspur, with more
than $12,000 in proceeds contributed to Bread & Roses. Dennis
and Susan Gilardi generously donated space for the sale.
Linda Carlton was the bidder on a dinner co-sponsored by
Tucky Pogue and Susan Mackowski. Jim
Greene purchased a lovely necklace at auction for his wife, Susan
Hyde Greene, and a beautiful Christmas tree decorated by Sudha
was given by an anonymous donor to the Bread & Roses office.
Public Relations
Board Co-Chair Sudha Pennathur gave an interview on KKSF about Bread & Roses
to promote the Sudha Sale. Marian Hubler was a guest on Joan Kenley's hour-long
radio show "Everything Musical," broadcast January 20 on KQKE 960AM "The

Sympathy
Our sympathy to the family of Bonnie Martin Capots, who
died of cancer last November. A long-time Bread & Roses host, Bonnie will
be honored at a Celebration of Life event on Thursday, April 12, at 7 p.m.
at the Fort Mason Center, Building A.
