We are so grateful for the performing artists who volunteer for Bread & Roses and are the lifeblood of our organization. Due to their generous dedication to our program, we were able to bring the healing power of live music and the performing arts to over 32,718 isolated Bay Area audience members in 653 shows last year.
We are all living in greater isolation now as we shelter-in-place due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Though our daily institutional shows are on a temporary hiatus, we are committed to sharing information that is of benefit for our community and particularly our performers who are seeking additional resources during this challenging time.

The list of financial resources you’ve shared feels incredibly supportive, especially during times when creative work becomes unpredictable. I’ve noticed that my productivity improves when I create a stable environment at home, both financially and physically. Simple changes, like using a smart AC controller, help me manage energy use more efficiently so I can keep costs down while staying comfortable during long creative sessions. Having more control over my space makes it easier to stay focused and make balanced decisions. It’s interesting how practical tools and financial guidance work together to give creatives a bit more breathing room.
When I started using Shikshade I noticed how much easier exam prep becomes when everything is organized in one place. Browsing through notes, opening PDFs, and checking updated exam details helped me catch things I would have missed on my own. Simple features like clear syllabus pages or quick access to previous papers save a lot of time and make studying feel less scattered.
Reading this piece about financial resources for creatives reminded me how essential it is to find spaces that genuinely support restoration during stressful periods. When I’m overwhelmed by deadlines or uncertainty, taking time away helps me reconnect with clarity. That’s one of the reasons I’m drawn to retreats like the Celestial Center at Wheel of Bliss — the quiet mountain setting, the grounding atmosphere, and the immersive nature of a Yurt Retreat create the kind of pause many creatives desperately need. Balancing financial stability with emotional and spiritual well-being isn’t easy, but intentional rest often becomes the catalyst for new ideas and better decisions.
