Continuing a tradition of support to community-based, independent cinemas, Bruce Springsteen, Columbia Records and Emerging Pictures have once again partnered to offer a widely acclaimed Springsteen film for charitable screenings across the country.   The Balboa Theatre & KFOG Radio to host a special screening of The Promise: The Making of Darkness on The Edge of Town as a benefit for Bread & Roses. THE PROMISE, a documentary by Grammy- and Emmy-winning filmmaker Thom Zimny, combines never-before-seen footage of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band shot between 1976 and 1978 (including home rehearsals and studio sessions) with new interviews with Springsteen, E Street Band members, manager Jon Landau, former-manager Mike Appel, and others closely involved in the making of the 1978 album, Darkness on the Edge of Town.

 

Bruce Springsteen has requested that all showings of the nationally screened film benefit local non-profit film theatres and organizations.  This local screening of the documentary benefits Bread & Roses. All benefit screenings will include product giveaways, with audience members eligible to win "The Promise: The Making of Darkness On The Edge of Town" BluRay, available in stores on May 3rd.
