The healing power of live music, delivered daily.
The isolated audiences we serve, our volunteers and supporters -
We are expanding our program to best serve our institutional audiences and to further the well-being of our entire community during the pandemic. New initiatives include a special collaboration bringing live music to various Bay Area Food Bank locations. We are also facilitating live Zoom shows, other outdoor programs and indoor concerts when possible. We are maintaining the vibrancy of our mission and excited to go forward with our new hybrid program model. Visit our blog to see the latest updates in our enews “The Heartbeat.” Thank you for helping to sustain our nonprofit organization as we find creative ways to uplift spirits. With your support, we will continue to provide hope, healing and joy through live music and the performing arts to our isolated Bay Area audiences.
Who we are
Bread & Roses Presents is a nonprofit arts organization with a human services mission that brings hope, healing and joy through live music and the performing arts to children, adults and seniors who are disadvantaged, marginalized, or otherwise isolated in diverse institutional settings in the San Francisco Bay Area. We produce over 600 shows a year in 125 facilities, presenting the talent of over 1,000 volunteers to over 32,000 audience members.
We are so excited to announce that our 2021 Fall Benefit Concert will be headlined by female indie-rock supergroup boygenius featuring the collaborative magic of Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers and Lucy Dacus. The private event will be held on Friday, November 19 at the St. Joseph's Arts Society in San Francisco. Sponsorship tables are now available for this intimate concert that you don't want to miss. For more information, click here, or call Heidi James at (415) 945-7120. VIP tickets will go on sale soon. Seating is limited! Strict COVID-19 protocols will be in place.

Peter Coyote’s first collection of poetry "Tongue of a Crow" takes us on a whirlwind tour of an eclectic and exciting life as an actor and Zen Buddhist priest, meandering from love affairs to marriage to divorce to the Sixties to psychedelic spirituality and beyond. Written over several decades, these poems read as a collage, each piece distinct and contributing to a cohesive lyric narrative. The book is available from all major retailers, as well here. Peter Coyote is a member of Bread & Roses Circle of Advisors, a long-time supporter and the narrator of our Bread & Roses video in 2017.
Special Offerings: Vintage Bread & Roses posters are now available of the "Bread & Roses Festival of Music" at the Greek Theatre from 1978 and 1980 (reproduced in 2016.) They are a wonderful art piece for any space! Plus, we have ORIGINAL limited-edition signed Bread & Roses 25th anniversary concert posters! Head over to our merch page and get yours today!
