Bread & Roses Presents is excited to announce our launch of the fifth annual Oh Say, Can You Sing? Contest! Participants enter for a chance to win first prize to sing the national anthem before the August 18 Oakland Athletics game or the September 12 San Francisco Giants game. The second place winner will get an acoustic KALA Brand guitar. Both winners will also receive a VIP tour at Lagunitas Brewing Company. Those who are not singers can still participate by voting for their favorite contestant. Both of the 2019 contests are in full swing now - visit the contest site to enter and donate to vote!
Voting closes on Wed. August 7 for the Oakland A's contest and Wed. August 28 for the SF Giants contest.
It’s easy to enter our contest and support Bread & Roses! Sign-up for the contest online by submitting a video of yourself, your group or band singing the national anthem. There is no entry fee! Spread the word about your participation in our contest with your friends and family. Check out our Toolkit for idea and ways to promote the contest. Your supporters can then donate to vote for you or any of their favorite performances. (There is a $5 minimum donation for five votes. All donations are tax-deductible contributions to Bread & Roses Presents.) The contestant with the most votes will win!
We congratulate our many anthem contest winners over the years: For the Oakland A’s contests, winners include: Damond Moodie (2015), Cathryn Flores (2016), Caroline Sky (2017) and Cathy Less (2018.) SF Giants winners include: Laura Benward(2015), MUSAIC (2016), Cathy Less (2017) and Suzanna Schomaker (2018). Each of our singers “knocked it out of the park” with their talent and style. We thank all of our contest participants, many of whom have been long-time Bread & Roses volunteers and supporters.
The last four years of the contest we raised nearly $43,000 to support Bread & Roses program of bringing healing live music to isolated people in the Bay Area. We appreciate our friends at the San Francisco Giants, Oakland A’s, KALA Brand Co and Lagunitas Brewing Company for their sponsorship and support.
