LUCIUS To Headline Annual Benefit Concert with Aaron Lee Tasjan and Celisse Opening

Fresh from their smash appearance at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass in San Francisco and with a new release, Second Nature, LUCIUS will headline the annual Bread & Roses Benefit Concert on November 19 at Saint Joseph’s Arts Society in San Francisco. Nashville-based indie folk artist AARON LEE TASJAN and Oakland-born and New York-based rock and blues powerhouse CELISSE will open the show.

The Saint Joseph’s Arts Society is a National Historic Landmark and a very special concert venue. Originally built in 1913 as a church, it has been repurposed and revitalized with charm and elegance by renowned designer Ken Fulk. Now an intimate space for performances, this is a one-of-a-kind setting in a city full of unique places for music and the arts.

Acclaimed vocalists Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig of LUCIUS, performed along with CELISSE this past summer at the legendary Newport Folk Festival with Joni Mitchell and Brandi Carlile. LUCIUS performed the song “Next to Normal” from their latest release on The Ellen Show last spring. The Brooklyn-based band features the exuberant vocal stylings of Jess and Holly who met at the Berklee College of Music, with Dan Molad on drums and Peter Lalish on guitar.

The band has been profiled in The New York Times, Rolling Stone and on National Public Radio. Prior collaborators include John Legend, Sheryl Crow, Lukas Nelson and Harry Styles. Their music has been featured on Grey’s Anatomy and New Girl. Jess calls Second Nature “an attempt to dance our ways through the darkness” and the ups and downs of the pandemic years.

AARON LEE TASJAN brings his elemental indie folk to the show. His restless, off-center charm combines humor, wit, irony and prophecy, and his music is a totemic blend refreshingly free of convention, borders and genre. Collaborators include Sean Lennon and Tim Easton.

Rock and blues guitar virtuosa CELISSE is known for her original music, soulful voice and infectious hooks that stay with you. She recently played guitar with Lizzo on Saturday Night Live, and has appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Her deep and varied career has seen her in concert with many notable musicians from Mariah Carey to Graham Nash.
